Great experience, even without Totality!! It's difficult to safely photograph a partial eclipse with a smartphone and get some foreground context as well. Unless that is you have an old 8" solar film filter lying around. Firstly it shows how bright the Sun is, even under eclipse and how relatively small the solar disc is as well...Hats are optional, although they can add a bit of old world glamour !!
